Discover how meditation and other mindful practices can reduce your stress — and its toxic effects — during a special Third Thursday event on Maryland Avenue and State Circle in Annapolis, April 16, 2015, from 4-9 p.m.
To spread awareness of meditation and ways to reduce stress, each participating store along Maryland Avenue will host a business, game or information area related to meditation and mindfulness. The aim is to help people learn ways to reduce stress, manage negative emotions and improve relationships.
Shoppers can sign up for yoga, learn about aromatic essential oils, enjoy an entertaining Tarot card reading for fun, and journey inward, connecting body and breath. Kids can learn about the five elements, write letters to Santa to stay mindful until the winter holidays, and enjoy other wellness activities.
Finger food such as samosas, fruit and vegetarian sandwiches will be available to buy. The evening will end with lighting luminaries and a planned short meditation in a few stores.
Meditation and Mindfulness is one of a series of Third Thursday events along Maryland Avenue, with the goal of shops supporting the community by increasing social awareness, social responsibility and social giving.
Through the event, shops will raise money for the Quality of Life Club at St. John’s College, which strives to increase the quality of life in the community and on campus. March’s event, related to Maryland Day, raised money for the Maryland Food Bank.
