Linthicum Elementary among six named Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools

msde logowithoutborderLinthicum Elementary School was one of six schools in the state to be named a Maryland Blue Ribbion School of Excellence. The list was announced today at a ceremony at the Maryland Department of Education. Also on the list was Robert Goddard French Immersion Elementary/Middle School in Prince George’s County.

The schools are recognized on the basis of rigorous state and national requirements for high achievement and significant improvement. The students in each of these schools are high achievers in reading and mathematics, and many serve a significant number of economically disadvantaged students.

“The Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools stand as shining examples of the outstanding education taking place at public schools throughout our State,” said State Superintendent of Schools Lillian M. Lowery. “The students, teachers, administrators, and communities that are part of these schools deserve our congratulations and admiration.”
Linthicum Elementary School is Anne Arundel County’s 16th Maryland Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Board of Education Vice President Debbie Ritchie, Interim Superintendent Mamie J. Perkins, and other school system officials joined Principal Fran Nussle and several school staff members for the announcement this morning.

“This is just an incredible honor because it recognizes the tremendous hard work of so many people inside and outside of our school building,” said Nussle, who has been principal at the 450-student school since 2006. “We have an outstanding staff, hard-working students, dedicated parents, and a community that supports us in so many ways. Every one of them has a part of this award.”
