BMA Jazz in the Sculpture Garden 2015 Schedule

This year’s performers and dates are:

July 25 – The Tim Green Group
Baltimore native and saxophonist Tim Green turns familiar melodies into harmonies that combine gospel and jazz. He has performed at the Grammys, recorded with Destiny’s Child and toured with Herbie Hancock.

Aug. 1 – The Hendrik Meurkens Samba Jazz Quintet
Hendrik Meurkens combines harmonica and Samba to play Barzilian jazz.

Aug. 8 – Marcus Johnson Project
Keyboardist Marcus Johnson combines contemporary jazz with hip hop.

Aug. 22 – The Dave Stryker “Eight Track” Band
Guitarist Dave Stryker leads his quintet, playing inventive melodies with rhythmic drive.

Aug. 29 – The Steven Kroon Latin Jazz Sextet
Percussionist Steven Kroon has recorded and performed with Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Diana Krall, The Temptations and the late R&B legend Luther Vandross, who he accompanied for 20 years.

Past years’ tickets have sold out, so advance purchase is recommended.

Single concert tickets are $45 or $30 for BMA members; single concert with VIP tour is $65 or $50 members, five concerts are $200 or $130 for members, five concerts with VIP are $300 or $230 members; Jazz+Dinner is $125 or $96 members and Jazz+Dinner VIP is $145 or $115 for members.

When the weather is clear and the heat index is low, the museum releases more than 150 tickets at 1 p.m. the day of the concert for outdoor seating. Call 443-573-1701 the day of the event.

In the case of inclement weather, concerts are held in the BMA Meyerhoff Auditorium.

The Wurtzburger Sculpture Garden includes a formal entrance gate, terraces, a two-level reflecting pool, plantings and 19 major sculptures. On view are masterworks by artists such as Alexander Calder, Henry Moore and Isamu Noguchi.
