What do you do when you dream of owning a bakery, love animals and want to provide a unique service to the community? For Stephanie Bristol the answer to that question was opening The PETisserie at Bakery39, a local pet bakery dedicated to providing all natural treats for our animal companions. Tucked in the back corner of the Benfield Village Shopping Center in Severna Park, this dog friendly bakery is home to a variety of original pet pastries including Pupcakes, Barkin’ Brownies and Doggie Donuts.
Stephanie is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and also holds a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts from Johnson & Wales University. Stephanie originally planned to open a human bakery (Bakery39) but when the circumstances weren’t right she decided to do the next best (or better?) thing – open a dog bakery. Her ultimate goal was to provide a service to the local community and with the support of her husband, Jonathan, and daughter, Elliet, she was able to complete her vision and open The PETisserie at Bakery39.
Stephanie believes our furry companions deserve tasty, thoughtful treats made with fresh, quality ingredients. She bakes for pets as she would for humans and believes whole-heartedly in her tagline “Taste tested by humans. Approved by dogs and cats.” Stephanie tastes every item she makes every time she makes it. As a result, The PETisserie boasts of doggone delicious desserts. Stephanie’s animal companions, dog Rocky and cat Randy, can attest to her commitment to tail wagging service and a lip-licking experience!
Community is a key component of The PETisserie’s mission and Stephanie is committed to giving back to the community through charity events and fundraisers. She also offers support to local schools and pledges to donate a portion of sales from select items to local non-profit animal welfare organizations. Stephanie envisions The PETisserie as a fun place for people and their dogs and aims to have both fun and fund-raising events periodically.
The PETisserie offers a daily menu of fresh baked doggie desserts, a variety of biscuits, cat treats, birthday cakes, and seasonal creations such as Pooch Pies that are a big hit in the Fall. The PETisserie also offers an assorted selection of organic and grain free treats that are made in Maryland including Bare Bites natural liver treats, KCC Natural Farms raw diet treats and Max & Ruffy’s organic treats. Stephanie stocks a variety of novelty treat items such as Puppy Scoops ice cream mix as well as a selection of fun and natural treats for cats. Stephanie rounds out her offerings with a novel selection of dog and cat toys and accessories including items hand made by her mom in Charleston, SC and her mother-in-law in Asheville, NC.
