Love snow but ready for back to normal — FranklyStein

This past weekend was the best thing for a parent of four busy kids, but now I’m ready for the routine back.

Snow moundFirst let me just say that the blizzard of 2016 was amazing. I can’t remember the last time I woke up and had no place to be and nothing pressing to do — for two days in a row. I haven’t slept that well in ages.

I had time to cook delicious meals. The teens (even the tween) helped with the shoveling. We caught up with neighbors and had plenty of family time by the fire. I also napped on the couch, went for a lovely walk with my husband and cleaned out my freezer — something I hadn’t done in over two years if the frozen meat stuffed in the back was any indication.

But now I’m starting to itch for normalcy. There’s something to be said about working Snow shovelingfrom home (you can wear your pajamas all day) and having the kids’ activities cancelled, but eventually your boss wonders where you are and the activities start up again regardless of school closings. I’ve made two runs to the pool today and anticipate more tomorrow.

The house is also a total mess. Snow clothes and socks are littering the floor. We’ve spent a fortune on on demand movies and we are running out of food. Everyone has stayed up way too late for too many days in a row, and they’ve had entirely too much screen time. Excessive boredom is starting to set in, though they’d never admit it.

It’s time to go back to school. I am hoping tomorrow is the day.
