If you’re looking for a fun way to bike with your friends and try some cool breweries, then find your way to a Bikes and Beers event. These growing annual events feature some of the coolest breweries across 14 states. In 2022, 4 of the events were in Maryland!
The Bikes and Beers event isn’t just to have fun. It also works to raise money for local cycling charities. These charities work to bring awareness and improve policies, laws and infrastructure for cyclists in that area.
Typical Event
Though the events can vary from location to location, most of them follow a similar set-up. The event begins that morning at the brewery where participants can check-in and fuel up for the day. Riders can choose from different routes, depending on their comfort level. Options include 15 to 50 miles cycling routes, all of which return the rider back to the brewery.
The fully marked routes take riders through beautiful parts of the area while providing support along the way. Rest stops, ride marshals and other support are available on the routes to ensure all riders have a great ride.
Post-Ride Activities
After the ride is complete, participants are greeted with a great after-party at the brewery. The festivities include live music, food-trucks, merchandise and of course great craft beer.
Although children are not allow to participate in the ride, the after-party allows everyone to join in the family-friendly celebration. Even dogs! Spectators can also join the fun, so no worries if one of your friends isn’t a bike enthusiast.
