Why Homeschool

When asked about her decision to homeschool, Hills whips out a 600-page book.

“In 1992, when moving across the country, I bought the journals of Lewis and Clark while visiting St. Louis. I took a year to read through it, and every night I would elbow David and say, ‘You’ve got to hear this! If someone made a movie of this trip, no one would believe it.’ I discovered that the information in my high school history text, distilled from original sources, bottled the facts while removing the story. If my own excellent education had not passed on the incredible story of this journey of discovery, what else had I missed by not looking to original sources? Did I want my children to miss this?”

David Roe admits he was skeptical when his wife first suggested homeschooling. “Adrianne pointed out several friends who were homeschooling, and pointed to the kids. I was impressed with their poise and demeanor around adults.”
