MD Summer Fun Day #21: Take the family swimming

northbeachWThere is no better way to cool off on a hot day than to go swimming.

Whether you want to dive into a pool or spend the day at the beach, there are plenty of options for both nearby.

The following is a list of swim centers in the greater Annapolis area that are open to the public as well as beaches not too far away.

Arundel Olympic Swim Center, Annapolis
Prices: Youth (17 & Under) $4, Adults $6, Seniors (60+) $4
Open Swim Hours: M-Th 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fri 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sat 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sun 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

North Arundel Aquatic Center, Glen Burnie
Prices: Youth (17 & Under) $4, Adults $6, Seniors (60+) $4 for county resident. Youth $6, adult $8 out of county.
Open Swim Hours: M/W/F 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tu/Th 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sat 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sun 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (leisure pool closed for swim lessons Saturday at 8 p.m.)

Swimming Pool at Truxtun Park, Annapolis
Prices: Under 3 free with paying adult, 3-17 years $4, 18-61 years $5, 62+ years $4
Open Swim Hours: weekends 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., M/W/F 12:30 to 6 p.m., T/Th 12:30 to 5 p.m. Open to lap swimmers only M-F 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Sandy Point State Park, Annapolis
Prices: Weekends – $5 per person for Maryland residents; $7 per person for non-Maryland residents; Weekdays – $4 per person for Maryland residents; $6 per person for non-Maryland residents
Hours protected by lifeguards: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends and holidays

Breezy Point Beach, Prince Frederick
Prices: Weekends adult (Ages 12 and up) $10, Child (Ages 3 to 11) $6, Senior (60+) $6, Chilren (2 and unders) Free. Weekdays adults $6, children & seniors $4.
