Hankering to get the kids out in nature? Look no further than the Rachel Carson Conservation Park in Montgomery County.
The park is undeveloped and covers over 650 acres, boasting ample wildlife, beautiful rock outcroppings, and the Hawlings River, as well as over six miles of paved and unpaved trails for hikers and horseback riders.
Rachel Carson Conservation Park is labeled as a “Best Natural Area.” There are mature upland oak hickory forest, uncommon mammals and several species of orchids. Parking is available at the intersection of Zion Road and Sundown Road where the Hawlings River crosses Zion Road.
