Whenever Kathleen Ernst drives across state lines into Maryland, she feels at home. The author of 15 American Girl books, including the six-book series about the newest American Girl Caroline Abbott, Ernst grew up in Maryland—bouncing from Cockeysville to Timonium and then finally Essex where she graduated from Kenwood High School.
Ernst, 52, a Wisconsin resident since 1982, will be returning “home” this month as the featured author at the Key School Book Fair in Annapolis.
“As a Maryland girl, the invitation to come to a book festival, in what I still think of as my original home state, is very appealing,” Ernst says, explaining she’s thrilled to share her journey as an author to young readers at the book festival.
