Consultant and educator Charlotte Rich will use three stories and hands-on activities to examine the Chesapeake Bay oyster through the lens of industry, culture, and ecology. The stories will explore oyster-harvesting practices, the late 1800s Maryland-Virginia oyster wars, and the life cycle of the Eastern oyster. Hands-on activities include dissection of an oyster, examination of antique and modern harvesting tools, and habitat investigation.
