Age Appropriate for: 5+. If you or your children have ever watched “Sesame Street” and are mature enough to shatter the illusion and learn there’s a man behind Elmo, the film is perfect.

‘Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey’ captures the wonderful charm of one of ‘Sesame Street’s’ most popular characters, and the overwhelming kindness of the man who brought him to life.

I’m not embarrassed to admit that I still watch “Sesame Street,” because it’s pretty much amazing. It taught me a bunch when I was a kid, stays culturally relevant with segments mimicking popular TV shows like “Glee” and “Mad Men,” and now brings us one of the year’s best documentaries in “Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey.”
