Kernel Rating (out of 5):
MPAA Rating: PG Length: 101 minutes
Age Appropriate for: 8+. Lots of jokes about pain inflicted to men’s crotches and goofy potty humor. Also some women’s cleavage and violence that may be unsettling for younger kids, like a fiery explosion.
Most of ‘Johnny English Reborn,’ with its jokes about genitalia and the main character’s dumbness, shouldn’t be funny. But it’s Rowan Atkinson’s silly charm that keep the film afloat.

I grew up on Rowan Atkinson as the goofy, ridiculous, totally-not-part-of-normal-society Mr. Bean, so I’m used to the Brit’s comedic style: miscommunication, physical antics, absurdity. And a decade later, after watching Atkinson’s latest, “Johnny English Reborn,” I still think he’s a joy.
