The film is about an ex-convict drug addict turned crusader for orphaned children in Africa; there’s violence and drug use, sexual themes, gory bloodiness (including really gruesome stuff, like a woman tortured by having her lips cut off), lots of corpses. Suitable for older teens only.
‘Machine Gun Preacher’ is about a man who finds God and decides to save Sudanese children as a result. The true story may be compelling, but this film adaptation isn’t.

Perhaps Sam Childers is a good man, but “Machine Gun Preacher” does not make me like him. A former biker and drug addict who did time in prison before eventually finding God and dedicating his life to saving children in war-torn Africa…
