Kernel Rating (out of 5):
MPAA Rating: G Length: 102 minutes
Appropriate for ages 9 and up. The movie includes but doesn’t endorse the lingering gender biases of the early 1970s. A few of the adult characters, including one of the nuns, have a drink, but the language is tame and sexuality nonexistent.

Bogged down by too much inspiration, this true sports story pulls disappointment from the jaws of victory
By Jared Peterson
In this tepid real-life underdog story, fiery Cathy Rush (played by Carla Gugino) finds her calling at Immaculata, a Catholic women’s college outside Philadelphia. It is the early 1970s, a different time for women and women’s sports.Hired as a basketball coach, Rush is expected to do little more than babysit the young ladies until they find husbands or a holy calling. But she strides onto campus, head held high and groovy slacks swishing, determined to make them contenders on the court and in life.
