“Who Goes There?”, the sci-fi story that inspired numerous film versions of “The Thing,” was written by John W. Campbell Jr. in 1938. It’s been eight decades, and still, the idea of an alien who can mimic any living matter it touches is a horrifying possibility. But this latest remake of “The Thing” isn’t a terror that will stick with you after the movie theater’s lights go up.
