Movie Review: Tower Heist (PG-13)

tower heistKernel Rating (out of 5): whole-popcorn-kernal

Length: 104 minutes         MPAA Rating: PG-13

Age Appropriate for: 14+. Cursing (and the n-word) and sexually suggestive talk. Probably too risqué for super-young teens.

Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy used to be funny once. The frustratingly flat ‘Tower Heist’ exemplifies why they aren’t anymore.

It’s kind of amazing that Brett Ratner, whose funniest film, “Rush Hour,” came out 13 years ago, still has the Hollywood clout to direct “Tower Heist,” meant to be a surefire success for comedians Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy. But it’s not surprising that Ratner, whose heavy-handedness ruined “Rush Hour 2,” “Rush Hour 3” and “X-Men: The Last Stand,” makes the exact same mistakes with “Tower Heist.”
