Muddy family fun at Annmarie Garden

Prepare for some family-friendly muddy mayhem June 25 at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center in Solomons.

Mud Day at Annmarie Garden WCelebrate International Mud Day with an afternoon of dirty fun. Explore squishy art projects, play in the mud kitchen, create a terrarium, paint with mud and jump in the giant mud pit.

International Mud Day celebrates the joy of childhood, nature and a deep connection to the earth. Mud Day at Annmarie encourages everyone to stomp, splash and get dirty.

The event will feature giant mud play areas like the Mega Mud Pit and the Mini Mud Pit for the little ones. Make mud pies in the Mud Kitchen and create a Mud Masterpiece in the Mud Gallery. Make faces on the trees using clay, mud and natural materials with a Squish-a-Face Forest Friend activity. Take home mud creations including a Terrific Terrarium and Seed Cake.

Light snacks will be available for purchase, including Kona Ice of Calvert County and Calvert Kettle Corn. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic.

Dress for a mess, bring a change of clothes, a beach towel and lawn chairs. Bug spray and sunscreen are also encouraged. A rinse off station will be available, but be prepared for a wet ride home. And remember, the most memorable days end with the dirtiest clothes.

Admission is $5 per person; free for members and children 4 and younger. The event is held rain or shine. For more information, visit the Annmaria website. For details call 410-326-4640 or visit Annmarie Sculpture Garden’s website, annmarie.org.
