Coaching on confidence and more
She provides coaching on qualities such as confidence, respect, relationships, communication skills, handling peer pressure, professionalism and social skills. She also teaches table manners, making introductions, grooming, the proper handshake and other social nicities.
“Respect for self and others starts at home and should begin at a very young age,” Cookson says. “As famlies learn and practice respuctful behavior, better relationships will develop not only at home, but will extend to school, work and all areas of life.”
Her business is based out of her home but Cookson teaches wherever she is needed. She coaches both children and adults and will come to your home, school, or business, she explains. She has also written five age-appropriate guides that she uses during teaching including “Manners Count!” for different age groups, “Social and Life Skills for Teens,” and “Business and Social Skills for Success.”
With the holiday season in full gear, Cookson is in high demand for table manners and social skills, she says. She’s even taught a whole troop of Girl Scouts.
When Alexander sought out Cookson’s help, she mainly wanted a little bit of polishing and etiquette for her granddaughter, but she was impressed by how much more was involved. Cookson began by asking her granddaughter how she felt about herself and even addressed some bullying issues she had experienced, Alexander explains.
Best of all, Alexander’s granddaughter is enjoying the classes despite some initial resistance.
“We were worried, but after the first class she was thrilled,” Alexander says. “I think she felt really comfortable with Diane. … She’s very professional yet very easy going.”
