Hold off on your back to school clothes shopping until next week, which is Maryland Tax-Free Week.
The second Sunday of August to the following Saturday is designated as Shop Maryland tax-free Week each year thanks to legislation passed in the 2007 special session of the Maryland General Assembly. That means qualifying apparel and footwear $100 or less, per item, are exempt from the state sales tax of 6 percent from Aug. 11 to Aug. 17, 2013. Accessory items such as school supplies are not included.
