Our Lady Star of the Sea artwork
Our Lady Star of the Sea School was founded in 1933 and is a co-educational Catholic School for children in Pre-K through 8th grade. The Art Program has been under the direction of Lori Smith since 2001 and is assisted by Lana Clews. Not only do the students meet weekly for art classes, they also have the opportunity to participate in an afternoon Art Club throughout the school year. Art students participate in many community outreach programs including projects and cards for nursing homes, armed forces, and the Paper Crane project for Japan. Their drawings are often printed in the Jr. Saint’s publication by the Catholic Standard newspaper.
The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Museum members and children under 5 are free. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and military, and $2 for children ages 5 – 12. For more information visit the Calvert Marine Museum website or call 410-326-2042.
