The Olney Theatre Center is sponsoring a pajama drive during its run of the beloved musical “Annie” (running November 10 through December 31; OlneyTheatre.org for tickets). Pajamas collected will go to Comfort Cases, a local organization that provides backpacks and duffel bags filled with essentials and a few comforts to kids in the foster care system.
Joshua Ford, Olney Theatre’s director of marketing and communications, says, “Annie is a heartwarming story with a happy ending, but we know that not all kids have the good luck to be suddenly lifted out of the ‘system’ by a billionaire. We wanted to find a way to make a positive contribution to the thousands of real kids who, like Annie, are dreaming of a new or renewed family life. We hope that the thousands of families coming to see our holiday musical will be generous with their pajama donations to help further those dreams. Particularly during National Adoption Month in November and going into the holidays in December, we want to always remember that there is a community beyond our theatre doors.”
Pajamas can be dropped off at Olney Theatre Center in the blue bins in the lobby, next to the box office prior to performances, or Wed.-Sun. noon-6 p.m. The pajamas should be NEW, and are welcome in sizes infant to XXL. Older kid’s sizes are in particular need.
