Parent Involvement Workshop at Stanton Community Center

(Annapolis, Md.) — In partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS), the Clay Street Learning Center and the We Care and Friends organization, Annapolis Recreation and Parks presents a Parent Involvement Workshop, “How to Get Involved with Your Child’s Education.”
Representatives from the Stanton Community Center (SCC), Annapolis Elementary School, Bates Middle School, Clay Street Learning Center and We Care and Friends will host this workshop. Presenters and topics will include:

  • Susan Myers, Principal, Annapolis Elementary School and Diane Bragdon, Principal, Bates Middle School – local public school programs
  • Andrea Beckman, Counselor, Annapolis Elementary School – role of the school counselor
  • Debbie Ray, Instructional Technical Resource Teacher, AACPS – access information for AACPS Web site
  • Sharon McElfish, Coordinator, After School Homework Club, SCC and George “Lassie” Belt, Recreation Leader, SCC – SCC’s After School Homework Club

This workshop is geared for parents, grandparents and guardians who have children attending AACPS schools in kindergarten through 12th grade. Education professionals, community stakeholders and interested citizens are also welcome to attend.
The “How to Get Involved with Your Child’s Education” workshop will be held on Friday, October 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Stanton Community Center located at 92 West Washington Street in Annapolis. The workshop is free and refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is not required.
