Patuxent Research Refuge Bird Count For Kids!

Saturday, January 7th; 8:30am -1pm at the National Wildlife Visitor Center;
Ages 8-14 (At least one parent or guardian must also attend.)

Celebrate the holiday season with kids’ birding…
Join experienced birders for the Patuxent Research Refuge Bird Count 4 Kids.
Discover what birds are out and about in Maryland during the winter.
This half-day event is patterned after the National Audubon Society’s
Christmas Bird Count.

What to bring:  Binoculars and a field guide if you have them (some will
be provided).
Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes or boots.
Bring a brown-bag lunch and a curiosity for birding!

“Conservation on Canvas, Student Edition,”
Saturday, January 14, 9:30-3:30  Grades 6-12
The workshop will provide information about conservation and art. Live and mounted waterfowl will serve as models. Students will be encouraged, but not required, to participate in the Maryland Federal Junior Duck Stamp Design Contest.  The workshop is FREE, but reservations are required and are requested by January 10th.   Call 301-497-5887 to register. Space is limited, so sign up early.
