PG schools boundary hearing tonight

PGCPS LOGOA public hearing on proposed school boundary, grade and program changes in Prince George’s County Public Schools is being held this evening, Feb.18.

Dr. Kevin M. Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer for Prince George’s County Public Schools, recently announced his recommended boundary, grade and program changes for the district.

The proposed changes outline four major areas that include:

  • Boundaries for the new Hyattsville Area Elementary
  • Boundary and (future) grade adjustment for Barack Obama Elementary School
  • Assignment of the sixth grade from selected elementary schools to middle schools
  • Creation of three Spanish Immersion schools (pending FY15 budget approval)

Members of the community are encouraged to attend the public hearing at 7 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room of the Sasscer Administration Building, located at 14201 School Lane, Upper Marlboro. To register to speak, please call the Pupil Accounting and School Boundaries Office at 301-952-6300 by 4 p.m. the day of the hearing.

The Prince George’s County Board of Education will vote on the proposed changes on February 25.
