The Cabin John Regional Park is definitely worth the drive because of its nature, sport and recreation amenities. The park has an athletic area with a lighted baseball field, 5 softball fields, tennis courts and tennis practice walls, a pee-wee soccer field, handball courts and a volleyball court. The pee-wee soccer field, softball fields and baseball field require permits for use. The park also has an ice skating rink, nature center, dog park, tai chi court, adventure playground, campground, trails and the C.P. Huntington Miniature Train. The miniature train carries visitors for ten minutes for a two-mile ride through the park.
The adventure playground at the park has many climbing structures, swings, slides and even a totem pole. There is a sheltered picnic area near the playground with grills. A snack bar is also open for families on the weekends.
