Downs Park is a 245-acre park with a 3.5-mile paved trail and 1.5-mile natural surface trail. The park also has a place for families to fish, a dog friendly beach on the Chesapeake Bay, two basketball courts, and of course a large playground.
The John Downs Beach Park Playground has many different-sized slides, bucket swings for toddlers, monkey bars, and lots of room for kids to run around. The playground is located at the main parking lot at John Downs Loop. There are restrooms close to the playground at the visitor center and picnic areas throughout the park for families to sit and eat lunch together.
There is an entrance fee of $6 per vehicle to enter Downs Beach Park.
