Maryland Playground Category: Playgrounds
Wheaton Regional Park is nestled in a forested area of Wheaton, Maryland. The park was established in 1960, incorporating several large parcels of land into one of Montgomery County’s finest and largest parks. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational and educational opportunities within its 536 acres. Take a ride on the train, go horseback riding, have a picnic, go fishing, ice skate or play ball. Relax and tour Brookside Gardens’ grounds and conservatory, attend a nature program, or traverse the trails and discover the park’s beauty.
The unique Adventure Playground at Wheaton Regional Park allows kids to enjoy the thrill of sliding down small, medium and large slides again and again. Perhaps they’ll dare to conquer the climbing mound, climbing nets or climbing wall to become king – or queen – of the hill. We’re sure many kids will opt to take flight on swings and gymnastic equipment, and that tots will enjoy a dedicated area filled with concrete animals and a sandbox perfect for exploration. The playground promises to be so much fun that we wish adults could enjoy it too! Please note there are three separate entrances into Wheaton Regional Park. These are clearly marked on the park map. The park amenities below have been organized by the appropriate entrance to make access easier. Click on any of the links below for more information. Many of our facilities accommodate people with disabilities. The miniature train and adventure playground are designed with unique equipment to assist those with mobility challenges. Brookside Nature Center, Brookside Gardens, picnic areas, and restrooms are also accessible.
