Prince Frederick is the county seat of Calvert County, located right at its center. It’s considered the county’s biggest commercial area, but it’s also surrounded by nature. The Calvert County Fairgrounds are located right outside of town, bringing a lot of activity to Prince Frederick during the summer.

Swamps and Sanctuaries

Prince Frederick offers many interesting spots to hike and explore nature. The Battle Creek Cypress Swamp Sanctuary southwest of town spans more than 100 acres of cypress swampland — very rare in the U.S. today. Visitors can enjoy a boardwalk trail through the swamp, as well as nature exhibits and educational programs at the nature center.

Biscoe Gray Heritage Farm is just down the road, with nature trails, historical buildings and a cliffside view of Battle Creek. The farm is an important archaeological site where archaeologists have unearthed ancient Piscataway artifacts.

Fun & Games

If you’re looking for kid-friendly activities, K&K Adventure Park has you covered. The park’s attractions include mini golf, batting cages, bumper cars and a rock climbing wall. For indoor play, try K&K Adventure Zone, which houses an arcade, laser tag arenas, indoor black light mini golf, a VR room and a laser maze.
