Acton Academy

We think it’s a major red flag that children start school as curious kindergartners and then by the time they graduate, dislike learning because they associate it with a place that forces them to do a lot of things that seem pointless or uninteresting. If we want our children to reach their potential, we can’t squash their innate love of learning.

In 2022 we launched the Maryland Curiosity Lab. The idea is to build a place that sparks curiosity rather than extinguishes it.

In the fall of 2023, we are opening a full-time elementary program as part of the Acton Academy network of schools. Acton Academy is a celebrated network of learner-driven schools, and the fastest-growing independent school network in the world. Each school (now over 250 in 27 countries) is founded by entrepreneurial parents who are disrupting the status quo. Acton challenges students to become the architects of their own education and “hero’s journey”. Think of Acton elementary as “21st Century Montessori,” a student-driven, self-paced elementary program that mixes real-world projects with online learning and Socratic discussions in a multi-age classroom.
