gym2Severna Park, Maryland– Club director & coach, Courtney Parfitt announced that SPSP Gymnastics will join forces with gymnastics clubs across the country on Sept. 17 to break the world record for most handstands held simultaneously.

As part of this year’s National Gymnastics Day on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, gymnasts, families, friends and enthusiasts from gymnastics clubs nationwide kick up their feet in show of strength for the sport and raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network and celebrate “The Year of the Handstand.”

Severna Park Gymnastics has committed to providing superior instruction, affordable tuition, and personal growth for each child in each class through a positive gymnastics and fitness program for children ages 12 months to 18 years old since 2008. As a direct result of SP Gymnastics’ support from the community, they are expanding their programming to Arnold in the Fall of 2011.

In conjunction with National Gymnastics Day,
SP Gymnastics will be holding an Open House to celebrate the opening of their new Arnold location. For more information, go to www.severnaparkgymnastics.com and

“Gymnastics is the vehicle we use at Severna Park Gymnastics to teach children motor skills, social skills and important life lessons, said Courtney Parfitt, Director, “National Gymnastics Day will allow us to celebrate the sport of gymnastics, bring all ages together to break a world record and raise money for Children’s Miracle Network. What a great way to show kids what you can accomplish when a community comes
together.”

Each year, USA Gymnastics celebrates National Gymnastics Day to raise exposure of the sport. Since 2001, gymnastics clubs across the country have raised more than $1.4 million for Children’s Miracle Network. The funds raised are distributed to the Children’s Miracle Network hospital in the club’s community.
