Get the family helping the hungry in the Annapolis area this weekend by taking part in Revolution Annapolis’ Grocery Store Buy Out.
The second Annual Grocery Store Buy Out is scheduled for Saturday, March 22, 2015 from 8:30 to 1 p.m. The shopping will take place at 9:30 and 11 a.m. at Shoppers Warehouse on Rt. 2 in Annapolis. Volunteers can meet at either Annapolis High School or Shoppers Warehouse.
Together, volunteers will buy food from Shopper’s that will fill food pantries throughout the Annapolis area. According to Revolution Annapolis, one in seven families in Anne Arundel County are food insecure, and one in three students in public schools rely on federal and state subsidies every day.
Last year, those participating in the Grocery Store Buy Out collectively purchased, sorted, packaged and delivered more than 46,750 meals to local families in need.
Ready to participate? Here’s what to do:
- Grab some family and friends and meet at Revolution Annapolis (Annapolis High School) or Shoppers Warehouse in Annapolis (Rt 2 and Forest Drive) at 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m.
- Bring some money, a little or a lot it, all makes a difference. Or collect donations from friends ahead of time.
- Grab a shopping list and go shopping.
- Pack a box and enjoy the party.
