Facebook fans weigh in on R movies for kids
When we asked our Facebook followers if they take their children under 10 to see R rated movies, the response was immediate and decisive.
“Are you serious?!?! No!!!,” said Rick Scrivener.
“Negative,” agreed Karrie D Sangster. “I believe the rating system was derived for a reason. No need to expose them to more than they already are exposed to in life.”
“Absolutely NOT!!!!!,” wrote Melissa Coon. “Only G or PG.”
“No way!” agreed Jeanette Moody Brewer .
“I also don’t like it when parents say ‘oh it will go over their heads’ and they will enjoy the rest of the movie,” Suzanne D. Pucciarella said. “Really? They might have nightmares, repeat language they know nothing about etc.. Too young!”
And the list went on. Only one parent hedged and said it depended on the movie, but even then she said probably not.
So the question remains, should we be reviewing R rated movies? Let us know what you think. Email betsy@jecoannapolis.com
