
4. Play at the Robinson Nature Center
Let the kids climb through a tunnel buried in a hillside, play in a hollowed-out log and drum on large mushrooms in the Nature Place at the Robinson Nature Center in Columbia. A newer addition to the Robinson Nature Center, this Certified Nature Explorer Classroom is a great spot to enjoy the outdoors while kids hop along log steppers, fiddle with a “rain” wheel, get creative with natural blocks or even play ring toss.

5. Volunteer at the Eastport Firehouse Community Garden
Rake leaves, spread woodchips, shovel soil and mend garden beds at the Eastport Firehouse Community Garden in Annapolis on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017. The cleanup is open to all ages, but adult supervision is required for those 12 years and younger. Equipment is provided but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own garden gloves, rakes and tarps, if possible.
Volunteers should meet at the community garden behind the firehouse at the intersections of Jefferson and Brashears streets. Snacks and beverages will be available, and free parallel parking is accessible along the street. To participate, please RSVP with site manager Emily French at [email protected].

6. Run the YMCA Camp Letts Turkey Chase Charity Race
The whole family can be active outdoors at the Turkey Chase 10K and 5K Fun Run in Edgewater on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, 2017. Hosted by YMCA Camp Letts, the race is open to all ages and includes both a 10K course and a 5K Fun Run. While there, be sure to take a picture with the turkey mascot or let the kids race against him in the Mascot Race prior to the 5K Fun Run.
Strollers are welcome. All proceeds from the race help send children and young adults in need to the camps hosted at YMCA Camp Letts.
