South River High’s Empty Bowls event helps feed hungry

Enjoy some delicious soup and help the hungry at the Annual Empty Bowls event Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at South River High School in Edgewater.

empty bowlsWFamilies can sample soup and bread from area restaurants including Chil-fil-A, The Green Turtle and Grilled Cheese and Co. Beverages will also be provided and dessert will be available for an extra charge. Since the event is meant to simulate how the poor often do not get a full meal, diners likely won’t feel full after eating. There will also be a live and silent auction.

Stop by Pottery at South River Colony in Edgewater to help out before the event. Paint a bowl to donate for $5 or paint a bowl to pick up at the event for $4.

Advance tickets are $11, $8 for students and $5 for ages 2-10. Tickets at the door are $20, $15 for students and $7.50 for ages 2-10. Donations of canned food also will be accepted.

The event is in the school cafeteria from 6-7:30 p.m. For tickets and details, visit srhsinteract.wixsite.com/emptybowls.
