Generally held in early March, Chesapeake Family Life’s Summer Camp & Activities Fair helps parents find summer camp options for their children. More than 60 local and out-of-state Overnight Camps and Day Camps come to Annapolis for the largest Summer Camp Fair in Anne Arundel County. Be sure to check out our February and March issues which are packed full of summer camp information as well as our up-to-date online directories. Sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are available.
Formally called the Preschool and Childcare fair, this January fair provides parents all the local educational and enrichment options they need to make decisions about schooling for their children.
Parents and children can visit with representatives from private and public school systems, parochial, homeschool, charter, special education, preschool, afterschool activities, and learning support services providers. Get up-to-date information about immunizations and other health regulation requirements, attend free parenting workshops, play games and more. Don’t miss it! Sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are available.
Held in September, the STEAM Fair is a day of learning, experiencing and observing tomorrow’s hot careers in Sceince, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.
The goal is to introduce Maryland students to opportunities in STEAM careers that they may not even know exist, so that students can pursue the educational path necessary for them to become a professional in a STEAM field that they love. Exhibitors are required to have a hands-on activity for kids to experiment with. Go to STEAMMaryland.com for more information.
Kids these days are amazing. Not only are they smart, tech savvy and hard working, but many of them are taking their ideas outside the classroom and turning them into passions in their communities.
Starting In 2018, Chesapeake Family Life honored local kids between grades 6 and 11 who are leaders, innovators, community activists and stellar volunteers. We asked area schools and parents to nominate these standout students and subsequently chose nine students from the area. The nine kids, who were nominated by parents, friends and teachers are nothing short of phenomenal. They included the founder of a nonprofit clothes donation business, a nationally ranked BMX rider, a gun control activist, and an animal lover who has spent more than 750 hours volunteering at the Anne Arundel SPCA.
To recognize these students, Chesapeake Family profiles each student in the November issue and in individual videos highlighting their achievements which are shared online and via social media. In November, the students are honored at awards brunch.
Nominations for Standout Students are open all year long and sponsorship opportunities range from having your logo on the nomination page, at the end of each video interview, or in print and online ads. Brunch sponsors are also needed. This is an excellent opportunity for area businesses to show their support of our youth and the incredible things they are doing for our community.
