Finding a moms’ group
These week, we are focusing a bit on playgroups and surviving the first years of parenthood on the Chesapeake Family website. There is nothing more life giving for a new mom than to meet and connect with other new moms. Playgroups and moms groups often offer the best opportunity. If you are a new mom and don’t have a group of friends with babies, check out the list of groups and activities in our article Maryland playgroups for moms and babies. We also have a more extensive list of moms groups on our website in parent resources. Chances are you will find a group just right for you and your baby.
Even though all my kids have been in school for years, I still meet with some of the women from my old playgroup once a week for coffee. I’m not lonely or craving adult interaction any more, but these friends still provide support that a mom needs long after her kids are out of diapers. I’m not sure how I would have made it this far without them.
