Stop Common Core Rally next week in Annapolis

StopCommonCore2A group known as Stop Common Core in Maryland is holding a rally in Annapolis on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The group is seeking turnout from across the state to the rally being held prior to the Legislative Briefing on House Bill 76, which calls for the prohibition of the implementation of the Common Core State Standards.

The rally will be held on Lawyer’s Mall, directly in front of the State House and the Legislative Services Building in Annapolis, from 4:30-5:30 p.m., according to the Stop Common Core Rally Facebook page.

Attendees are asked to bring signs, but not on sticks/poles. The Legislative Briefing begins at 6 p.m. in the Joint Hearing Room in the Legislative Services Building, 90 State Circle. The briefing is sponsored by members of the Maryland House of Delegates who represent the legislative districts in Anne Arundel County. There will be presentations given by interim superintendent Mamie Perkins as well as Henry Johnson of the state Department of Education, according to the Stop Common Core Rally Facebook page.
