Take a visit to Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in Lothian and walk the trails while learning about the freshwater wetlands, forests, meadows, and fields along the Patuxent River.
At Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, you can explore nature throughout more than 1,700 acres of woodlands, wetlands and meadows, and 15 miles of trails.
On the trails, families can see box turtles and stream fish, and observe birds, turtles and other marsh life. Be sure to check out the unusual insects living in the Pine Barrens sandy area.
Park trails at the Glendening Nature Preserve includes four loops, with distances of .7, 1.8, 2.3, and 3.5-miles.
There is an entrance fee of $6 per vehicle. Due to COVID restrictions the Visitor Center, restrooms, and Nature Play Spaces are closed. But the trails at the Glendening Nature Preserve are open for walking, running and hiking only (no biking).
