Take a visit to Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary in Lothian and walk the trails while learning about the freshwater wetlands, forests, meadows, and fields along the Patuxent River.
Outside the Visitor’s Center, kids can enjoy the Nature Play Space, which features a sunken canoe, musical instruments made from natural materials and a cave made entirely from sticks.
On the trails, families can see box turtles and stream fish. Be sure to check out the unusual insects living in the Pine Barrens sandy area.
Learn more about the wildlife by participating in hands-on activities at the Visitor’s Center.
