It’s the 13th season of the Maryland State Park Quest, and this year’s going to be a little different.
This year’s Park Quest 2020: “DIY” (Do-It-Yourself) Park Quest” challenges to visit and explore Maryland’s state parks and complete as many of the DIY Park Quest activities as you can.
All activities are self-guided and can be done at your own pace with your family. Park Quest 2020 activities will be available until Oct. 31, 2020. There is no official Park Quest passport to be stamped this year, but there are plenty of great activities to be done at home and while visiting parks around Maryland.
If you complete 12 or more Park Quest activities before Oct. 31 and complete this form, your team will receive an official Park Quest certificate and will be eligible to win Park Quest prizes, which range from stickers, magnets, and bandanas to an Annual State Park & Trail Passport (valued at $75).
Park Quest activities include both park-specific activities and Pick Your Park fun like a nature scavenger hunt, nature photography contest, photo scavenger hunt and a park checklist. These can be done outdoors at almost any State Park, and some may even be able to be completed from home.
In-park activities include cool hikes like the Prettyboy Dam Sensory Hike, invasive species finder hike and Mindfulness in the Miocene at Calvert Cliffs. There are also self-guided walking tours that celebrate the Year of the Woman, and a Hooked on Fishing challenge. Find the full list of activities here.
There are no additional fees to participate in the 2020 Park Quest Program. All materials are available online. As you go, be sure to share your adventure on social media with #ParkQuest2020. Follow the Maryland State Parks on Facebook @MDStateParks and Twitter @MDStateParks.
