Head online for a family-friendly festival celebrating world cultures.
This year’s Smithsonian Folklife Festival—Beyond the Mall is going to be a little different.
Since 1967, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival has celebrated the power of culture, creativity, and community on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. This year it will be all virtual, by continuing to make space for sharing ideas, food, and music.
This year’s Beyond the Mall features artisans and experts virtually from the United Arab Emirates, Northeast Brazil, the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, and the Smithsonian Conservation Commons. There will be concerts, discussions, lessons, poetry readings and a whole lot more. Find the schedule at https://festival.si.edu/schedule
The second week runs July 1 to 5.
Festival goers are encouraged to feast, dance and learn along with the programs.
