Looking to keep the kids reading and learning this summer? Take a visit to your local library today and register for a Summer Reading program.

libraryReading is fun for all ages, and most libraries offer programs for kids from pre-k through high school. Maryland libraries this year have built their reading lists around the theme “Every Hero has a Story,” and are focusing on books about heroes, sidekicks, and super villains. Kids who keep up with their reading logs can cash in for prizes at the end of the summer. Visit the library with your child today to register for the program, get their first library card, or grab a book to read together.

Registration for the Summer Reading program begins this weekend in most counties. Check out the website for your county library system for more details on when and how to register. Many programs start the end of May, although you can usually join anytime during the summer.
