Get up close and personal with live sharks at Calvert Marine Museum’s Sharkfest July 13.
Head to Solomons for this annual kid-crowd pleaser at the Calvert Marine Museum—Sharkfest! Check out live sharks and Atlantic sturgeon in the Corbin Pavilion, and take part in hands-on opportunities throughout the museum to explore the diversity of sharks and their remarkable history on planet Earth.
Kids can learn fascinating sharktoids, check out the evidence of damage done on fossil whale bones by prehistoric sharks, paint a shark mural, make a shark hat and slide down the incredible bouncy shark slide. You can also take a picture of your kids in the jaws of a Megalodon shark, visit with the CMM resident otters and face painting will also be available for a fee.
Sharks are highly adaptable and now live in every ocean in the world in warm, temperate and cold waters. Learn why preserving these ancient animals is critical to the health of our oceans.
