Take the family on a sail through the waters around Annapolis and enjoy beautiful views of the Severn River, the Annapolis Harbor, the Naval Academy and the Chesapeake Bay.
Schooner Woodwind offers daily two hour public cruises in the waters around Annapolis.
Depending on wind direction and speed, you might see the Thomas Point Lighthouse and Kent Island, and you could even sail under the Bay Bridge. The two 74-foot schooners “Woodwind” and “Woodwind II” were custom designed and built specifically for sailing on the Chesapeake Bay.
The ships sail rain or shine, unless the captains determine that conditions are too dangerous. All departures are from Pusser’s Caribbean Grille at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel across from the City Dock.
During the summer, there are four cruise times daily, seven days a week: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. The Sunset Sails (6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) have different themes each night; on Thursday nights, you can enjoy live music during your cruise. You can check Schooner Woodwind’s website for more info on daily activites, tickets, and specialty cruises.
Not feeling up to a cruise? Bring the kids to explore Annapolis’ City Dock, where they can wander the shops along Main Street and watch the boats from shore. The City Dock offers plenty of history, beauty and excitement for any age.
