Today, consider spending time helping out one of the many charitable organizations in the Baltimore/Annapolis area as a family.
Pick a local cause that interests the whole family and contact them to see how your family can be of service. It can be a fun way to spend time as a family, and give back to the community.
Here are just a few organizations in the greater Annapolis area that may be able to use your help:
Annapolis Light House Shelter: Provides shelter and services to prevent homelessness.
Sarah’s House – Fort Meade: Provides safe shelter, daily meals, personal, as well as professional casework support for those in need.
Arundel House of Hope – Glen Burnie: Provides housing and supportive assistance to the homeless.
Check before you go to find out if there is a minimum age for volunteers.
For more volunteer opportunities visit the Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County website. You can filter your search to look for youth/family opportunities.
Alternatively, simply spending a day searching your house for items to donate to Goodwill, or choosing a charity to begin fundraising for are simple ways to spend quality time together as a family, while teaching your kids the importance of helping others.
