Take the family out for a week of art, crafts, dance, music, theater and children’s activities all in the heart of Annapolis.
Every first Sunday of the month, May through November, the first block of West Street and Calvert streets in Annapolis will come alive with more than 100 unique artists and crafters, live music, dance, street performers and outdoor cafes. There also will be face painting, henna tattoos and other activities for kids.
Restaurants will set up street-side cafes, and some offer indoor entertainment during the festival dates as well. The streets are closed and vendors will be open from 11 to 5 p.m.
The First Sunday Arts festivals showcase all types of art including painting, sculpture, pottery, glass, wood turning, photography and other mediums. Performances take place in three dedicated areas, with the main stage in the parking lot next to Stan and Joe’s Saloon. A Community Art Performance Stage will be in Whitmore Park on Calvert Street. And the performance area in Weisman Park near the Visitors Center offers shade.
Admission is free and parking is available at the State Parking Garage on the corner of Calvert and Bladen streets. Leashed pets are welcome.
The festival is sponsored by the Inner West Street Business Association. For details and updates, visit the First Sunday Arts Festival website.
