Summer Fun Day #61: Go on a rafting adventure

Whitewater rafting is a fun, exhilarating way to explore Maryland’s rivers on a nice summer day.

RaftingRafting tours offer fast-paced, thrilling fun for families with school-aged children and older who want to get close to nature.

River & Trail Outfitters has two tours for families, a four-hour outing that includes a riverside picnic and goes through Class I rapids (3-5 foot waves) to Class III (up to 6-foot waves), and a more adventurous two-and-a-half-hour tour with consistent Class III rapids, an area for cliff jumping and a barbecue.

The Adventure Sports Center International at Wisp Resort has the first man-made whitewater rafting course in the country and offers consistent Class III rapids. Its 500-acre recreation area also has kayaking, geocaching, hiking and climbing excursions.

For more information, visit the River & Trail Outfitters and Adventure Sports Center International websites.
