Before the summer ends, take advantage of a nice day and spend it on the water.
Paddling is good exercise for the whole family and a fun way to experience the great outdoors, and there are tons of places nearby to rent kayaks, canoes and paddleboats.
Centennial Lake in Ellicott City has all three types of boats to rent, and when you finish boating, you can take a walk on the 2.4-path circling the lake or play on the huge playground in the park.
Explore Harness Creek by visiting Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, which has kayaks, paddleboats and even paddleboards to rent.
Enjoy the calm waterways of the Anacostia River with a visit to Bladensburg Waterfront Park and see birds, turtles and the surrounding wetlands. Rent a kayak and afterwards, take a pontoon boat tour offered by the county’s parks and recreation department.
