It’s time for summer movie fun in communities throughout Maryland and we’ve got the full roundup so a day or evening at the movies doesn’t have to break the budget! Here are our picks for indoor and outdoor programs for both the family and date night enjoyment!
To get the most out of these summer movie bargains, don’t forget to arrive early, bring a blanket and chairs if necessary and some snacks if permitted.
Indoor Movie Programs:
$1 per person, per movie, at the theatre box office on day of movie or see all 10 for $5! Get a ten-week series punch card at the theatre box office, while supplies last. Showtimes are on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.

Select Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres will offer selected PG rated movies for only $1 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. To check out their $1 movie schedule, put in your zip code here, and search your specific theater’s schedule. A portion of the proceeds to benefit the Will Rogers Institute.

Outdoor Movie Programs:
National Harbor presents Movies on the Potomac, free movies on the Plaza during the summer. Family-fun movies are on Sundays and Date Night movies for the adults on Thursdays. (Coolers and outside food are not permitted.)
The Wine Bin, on Main Street in Ellicott City, located in the historic area, often shows movies in its parking lot on Saturday nights through September. A wine tasting is available prior to each movie. Coolers of ice are available to chill wine and beer.
The American Visionary Arts Museum’s Flicks from the Hill series is held on Thursday nights in July & August at the Hughes Family Outdoor Theater in Federal Hill, Baltimore. Movies are projected onto an impressive 30-foot wide screen suspended by a giant golden hand! Showtime is at 9 p.m. but, the fun begins at 5pm with free admission to the museum and lots of activities. In case of inclement weather, the movie will be screened indoors on the third floor of AVAM’s Jim Rouse Visionary Center.
Movies on the Beach, a local favorite in North Beach, Calvert County. The movies are projected onto a large, inflatable screen in the sand. Bring your beach chair or blanket and get comfy on the beach! Movies begin at dusk. Free. Drive-in Movie on the Bay: North Beach also offers free “drive-in” movies during September and October at dusk in the visitor parking lot.
Heading down the ocean? Try Free Movies on the Beach in Ocean City! Several locations around town. Bring your beach chair or a blanket and enjoy the night beside the ocean. Mondays & Fridays in late June, all of July and August, free movies can be seen on the beach at 27th Street. On Wednesdays in June, June, July and August, come for the movies on 117th Street at the Carousel Hotel. A printable schedule is available here.
